City officials unveil new name for South Laredo park trail

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - In a heartfelt ceremony, the City of Laredo officially renamed the Slaughter Park trail to the Korean Veterans Walking Trail, honoring the sacrifices of Korean War veterans.

The renaming marks a significant step in recognizing the contributions of those who served in the Korean War, with many veterans in attendance.

It's a recognition of their service and the sacrifices made by so many. In attendance was Korean War veteran, Ernesto Sanchez.

Sanchez noted, "With this trail, and completing our Road 359, it will tell the people that their sons and daughters that were lost in war will never be forgotten."

Sanchez added he hoped with the renaming of the 359 Road and the walking trail, people would know of the Korean War and not call it "The Forgotten War" anymore.
