Clean sweep for Ardee archers as they bag gold at picturesque Meath venue

The club had four contenders in the various categories and there were wins all round for Neil Keeble (Senior Barebow), Peter Gilmore (Masters Barebow), Hugh Murphy (Compound Master) and Mark Young in the Bowhunter Recurve section. Archers from CúChulainn also competed on Saturday in the Archery NI and Open Senior Championships, hosted by Lisburn Archery Club in the Jim Baker Stadium in Templepatrick. In a hotly contested Senior Barebow category, Ryan Dougan and Neil Keeble came up against one another in the semi-finals, with Ryan progressing to the final where he ended up with the silver medal. Neil went into the bronze medal match and finished in fourth place. Mark Young and Peter Gilmore, who were in the Barebow Master category, fought their way through to the quarter-finals where they were unfortunately knocked out, but JoAnn Bell took gold in the Masters Women Compound and there were bronze medals for Darrel Wilson (Senior Men Compound) and Paul McClelland (Masters Men Compound). Further afield, two competitors from CúChulainn Archers were among 42 from Ireland and 1,193 from all over the world competing In competition iat the JVD Open 2024 Kings of Archery Series in Eindhoven in the Netherlands. This prestigious and very popular competition took place over two days and the CúChulainn duo found themselves in the biggest category of all, the Senior Men Compound, where Robert Hall placed 20th and Alan Convery 43rd - very good results.
