CHARLOTTE ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged an 18-year-old in connection to several crimes, including a shooting that injured a 2-year-old girl, records state.

Damarco Amarion Williams was taken into custody this week and faces a slew of charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.

According to documents, two locations along Morgan Street were struck by gunfire just before 3 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12. At that time, CMPD officers were already investigating another shooting into a home along Wildwood Avenue where a 2-year-old girl was struck in the arm.

CMPD said the calls between Wildwood Avenue and Morgan Street were just five minutes apart.

One home on Wildwood Avenue was struck by gunfire seven times, while the other location on the same street had an unoccupied vehicle hit. Two locations on Morgan Street were struck by gunfire, and each was hit three times, according to the police report.

The 2-year-old little girl who was shot on Wildwood Avenue was transported to Atrium Health and treated for her injuries, CMPD said.

Doorbell video from a home along Wildwood Avenue captured a white four-door sedan driving by the residence around 2:30 a.m. The suspect was seen in the video leaning out the rear driver's side window and firing upon the home, CMPD reported.

According to court documents, authorities believe the drive-by shootings stemmed from an ongoing dispute that escalated between several people. Throughout this investigation, detectives discovered that the white four-door sedan, a 2011 Nissan Maxima, was stolen.

Several days after the multiple drive-by shootings on Oct. 16, the stolen vehicle was located on Glenrock Drive. CMPD's Aviation Unit responded and observed four people get out of the stolen car and try to run away from authorities. One of the four, identified as Williams, jumped from the driver seat of the vehicle and fled to his grandmother's home on Glenrock, records state.

Authorities said Williams was seen clutching what appeared to be a firearm as he walked toward the front of the residence. All four suspects that were inside the vehicle were detained and identified. After getting permission to search the home, two firearms and additional live rounds were located inside a bedroom. Police said Williams "waived his Miranda rights at the scene and admitted to possession of the Glock 22 and putting it inside the room."

Williams also admitted to police he had control over the white Nissan, records state. Both firearms were seized and test-fired by the CMPD Lab. The Glock 22 was connected to the shooting on Morgan Street during testing, according to court documents.

CMPD said because of the short time span between the shootings, the same vehicle description, and that there were multiple suspects involved, Williams was charged with both shootings.

His total charges are as follows:

Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury

Felony conspiracy

Injury to personal property

Williams' bond was set to $500,000. He is currently being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
