Cole Hauser “Interested” in Continuing ‘Yellowstone’ With Rip and Beth: “You Can Go on Forever About These Two”

The long-anticipated end of Yellowstone arrives this weekend — but there are some hints that this may not actually be the end.

The hit series was last on the air in late 2022, with the first half of season five; two years later, the second half is about to be released, after a series of delays that included star Kevin Costner's departure from the series. Paramount Network previously announced the show would conclude with these remaining season five episodes, but there have been recent reports that a sixth season is in talks with stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser .

At the show's premiere in New York on Thursday, Hauser weighed in on the season five ending, musing to The Hollywood Reporter, "You never know whether it's coming to an end or not, so we'll see. But I think what [creator] Taylor [Sheridan] wrote and the way that he kind of suited it all up, it's wonderful and if it ends, then it ends. It's been one hell of a run, it's been one of my favorite jobs."

He added that when it comes to his and Reilly's characters — who play the married fan favorites Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton — "You can go on forever about these two. There's no walls when it comes to them, no limits. As long as Taylor wants to write something special, I know Kelly and I would be interested to do it."

The show's other stars — whose journey with the series could actually be over — were a bit more reflective, after filming the super-secretive episodes with redacted scripts and storylines so hushed, they weren't even all told to the crew.

"I'm glad we were able to finish the show — there was a lot of obstacles, we had COVID seasons and strike seasons and Kevin not being around," admitted Luke Grimes , who plays Kayce Dutton. "It's a miracle that were able to finish the show so that's nice, but also I'm going to miss a lot of these people."

Grimes also weighed in on carrying on without Costner's John Dutton, admitting, "It's hard to imagine the show without him. But that's always where the show was headed. It was, can these kids do it without him? So we all knew it was going to get there, we just didn't know how or when, and clearly it was different than what we thought. But what it did do was ramp the show up to a 10 and now everything starts to unravel." Wes Bentley , who plays Jamie Dutton, echoed, "We miss him, he's a huge part of the show and great guy to have around."

As for the second half of the season, which premieres on Paramount Network on Sunday at 8 p.m. (followed by an encore on CBS at 10 p.m.), Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton, promises, "It's a perfect ending, a deserved ending for all the characters. I'm really excited to see and I'm proud of the work we've done this season."
