College Notebook: Ranberger finds her stroke for Hornets

S.Martinez37 min ago

Former Mountain View High School standout Elizabeth Ranberger is on a scoring tear for the Shenandoah University field hockey team.

Over the past four games, the graduate student midfielder has scored has scored seven goals and chipped in two assists, keeping the streaking Hornets on a 12-0 run since dropping a 2-1 contest to Washington College.

Ranberger, who's started all 16 games the Hornets have played so far, has seven goals and seven assists on the season, and her shots-on-goal percentage is 0.744.

But Ranberger isn't the Hornets' top scorer from the Fredericksburg area. That honor goes to forward Cassidy Morrison (Eastern View), also a graduate student. Morrison has 18 goals and 49 points already this season. Another area product, Courtland's McKenzie Watkins, scored two goals and added an assist in the Hornets' 10-0 win over Eastern Mennonite on Oct. 23
