SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Tuesday was National Voter Registration Day.

Southeast Tech student Zach Geditz is one step closer to casting his ballot in the general election.

The 20-year-old filled out a South Dakota voter registration form on campus Tuesday.

"I think it's a really big need in our country right now. The way this country is going, I think we need as many, especially young voters, to have their voice, especially in a state like South Dakota, that's like the only way we get to do that," Geditz said.

"We make it super easy for them. All they have to do is complete the form and we take it from there and the secretary of state will send them a little card in the mail that has their polling location and everything they need to know before they go vote," Sioux Falls League of Women Voters Youth Vote Coordinator Quincy Hanzen said.

Bailey Wolfgang is already registered to vote, but the Augie senior is encouraging other college students to get it done.

"For a lot of college kids, transportation is a big issue, so being able to do it here on campus makes the process a lot easier for college students," Wolfgang said.

"I think it's a very important thing to do," Geditz said.

The general election is on November 5th.
