Columbia County Commissioners to meet: Lakeshore Hospital Authority controversy continues

LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) -Columbia County commissioners are meeting this morning for the first time since the election. They'll discuss the decision to dissolve Lakeshore Hospital Authority, which was decided upon by voters. Earlier this year commissioners unanimously approved a resolution adding a straw poll to the November ballot, asking voters whether or not they feel the lake shore hospital authority should remain in business. Though the results aren't binding, voters made it clear they believe the hospital should be no more. The facility was originally created in 1963 to care for the indigent population in Columbia county. Today's commission meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m.
