Pinochle will be played at the York Senior Center on Thursday, Nov. 7 starting at 1 p.m.Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Prevention Training hosted by Four Corners Health Department will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at East Hill Church of Christ in York. This workshop equips people to recognize the warning signs of suicide, know how to offer hope, and know how to get hep and save a life. People trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year. The same is for people trained in QPR. We are better able to help people in a mental health crisis when we learn how to recognize the warning signs of suicide risk, and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. On the Hill of the Rising Sun — A Presentation on the History of York University will be held on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Anna Bemis Palmer Museum. Special Guest, Dr. Jared Pack, will talk about a century plus of college education in York County, focusing on the historic buildings and stories from past and present, an important transition period in the 1950's, plus moving from College to University and what that entails for the future. This is a free program linked to the museum's History of York County Exhibit that runs until Feb. 28. The museum is open Tuesdays — Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.Quilts of Valor The William Sullivan American Legion Auxiliary Unit 218 will present six Quilts of Valor at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, at the Exeter Legion. All Legion members and residents of surrounding communities are invited to attend. Unit 218 will host a reception following the ceremony. Nov. 10 is also the 105th anniversary of the formation of the American Legion Auxiliary of the United States.

Infant, Kindergarten, 7th Grade and college entry vaccines are available for "Vaccine For Children" eligible children from birth through 18 years of age. FLU Vaccine will be available. Reminder — All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and a record of all previous immunizations is required. The GFWC Seward Woman's Club will be honoring the area Seward County First Responders units at their 2024 Christmas Festival of Trees to be held this year in the John Cattle Room at the Nebraska National Guard Museum in Seward. The Festival of Trees will open on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the museum and is free and open to the public. Area First Responder Groups/Units include area Fire Departments, EMT's and Rescue Units-along with our local law enforcement programs in Seward County. The GFWC Seward Woman's Club invites all the local First Responder Units to sponsor a tree and decorate that Christmas Tree on behalf of their group. There are a limited number of artificial trees available and a limited amount of space this year, at the Festival of Trees is at the Ne National Guard Museum instead of at the Seward Civic Center. The Civic Center is under a current renovation and will be completed next year. Area First Responder's groups are invited to decorate the tree and must furnish their own decorations, lights, topper, skirt and extension cords-promoting their area or organization. There are trees at the museum to "borrow" for the display. The trees must be in place by Saturday, Nov. 30 and can remain up through Christmas or taken down after the festival weekend.
