Community Conversations: El Paso mayoral candidate Isabel Salcido

G.Perez29 min ago

In today's community conversations, El Paso Mayor candidate Isabel Salcido joined the KFOX14 morning news to talk about why she is running for mayor.

Salcido explained the reason she decided to run for mayor.

Salcido has been in the city council for six years and said she has seen a lack of transparency in the community.

"We need to have the voice of people in it," said Salcido.

"Anytime we pass an ordinance we need to have the people that will be impacted, need to have a seat at the table," she said.

Salcido explained what would be her priorities if elected mayor.

"We are going to focus on tax reform. We're talking about public safety but also public safety streets and youth initiatives," she said.

Salcido also spoke about how she would tackle the police shortage.

Salcido said the city has increased the police academies to three a year.

"We need to make sure we have the badges on the floor. And look at the way we can retain officers with incentives," Salcido said.

Election Day is Nov. 5.
