Community Conversations: El Paso mayoral candidate Brian Kennedy
In today's community conversations, El Paso Mayor candidate Brian Kennedy joined the KFOX14 morning news to talk about why he is running for mayor.
Kennedy is going to a run-off election with Renard Johnson since both didn't obtain 50 percent of the vote.
Johnson received 32% of the vote on Nov. 5 and Kennedy received 24%.
"I have a track record. I told people we were going to make a change in city manager and we did, immediately. We've held a line of taxes two years in a row, which has never happened. It's not just saying let's do all these things, it's look at what we've done," he said.
Kennedy explained his vision for the city council if elected.
"If I'm mayor, I'll have meetings which each member of council and ask what is it that you want to accomplish in your district so we can have a cohesive plan for the city of El Paso," Kennedy said.
Kennedy explained what he hoped to accomplish when his term ends if elected.
"I hope at the end of four years people say he told us the truth whether it's good or bad news. Our roads are getting better. He didn't raise taxes. Want them to feel like I'm the mayor for all of El Paso," Kennedy said.
Early voting begins Dec. 2-10.
The runoff election will be held on Dec. 14.
