VALLEJO, Calif. (KRON) — Vallejo Police Department (VPD) said officers seized a firearm and drugs after a suspect in a traffic violation stop led police on a brief chase.
Cruise to resume testing on Bay Area streets
The incident happened Tuesday when officers spotted a 2012 Mercedes Benz CLS 550 on Marin Street, with heavily tinted windows and missing a front license plate.
Police said the vehicle parked but then fled when officers exited their vehicle. During the short chase, the driver allegedly tossed a gun from his car, said VPD.
VPD caught up with the suspect and a vehicle search revealed two bottles of Promethazine and Oxycodone, with the prescription labels scratched off, along with unsealed marijuana.
Police said the car was found not to be registered to the driver. Officials also discovered through a records check that the suspect was a convicted felon without a valid driver's license.
Police said the car was towed and the man was arrested and booked on multiple felony charges.
