Conviction For Deadly MN Home Invasion by Men Posing as Police

Cambridge, MN ( KROC-AM News ) - A Minnesota man has been convicted of murder and other charges for planning a home invasion that led to the death of another man on a ranch in a suburban area just north of the Twin Cities late last year.

According to the criminal complaint, hired three other people to dress up as police officers and burglarize the property in Spencer Brook Township near Cambridge. Court documents described the ranch as a purported drug stash house.

In announcing the conviction, the Minnesota Attorney General's Office, says Olivar provided the men with a gun, drugs, and the address of the property. It was also alleged that he coordinated with them by phone just moments before the crime.

During the home invasion, was shot and killed.

Olivar was found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of first-degree burglary.

Three other men were charged in the case. 4 each face second-degree murder and first-degree burglary charges in connection with the death of Fernandes on December 13, 2023. Their cases are still pending.

The Minnesota Attorney General's Office handled the prosecution of Olivar at the request of the isanti County Attorney's Office.
