Cookie poll? Minnesota bakery goes viral for presidential pastries
A bakery in Minnesota is sharing the weekly results of its ongoing presidential cookie poll.
The red, white, and blue sugar cookies at in Red Wing feature buttercream frosting, as well as one of two names: Trump or Harris.
As of Monday, Former President Donald Trump was at 6,743 cookies sold, toVice President Kamala Harris Harris' 3,385, according to Week 12 results the bakery posted on TikTok.
Donald J Trump is widening his lead over Harris," the bakery noted in the post.It's seemingly interesting news for Minnesota, which is known as a blue state.
"MN would be red if we went of the accuracy of cookie poll," one person wrote.The post was one of several videos the bakey shared about the poll ahead of the election.
Fans have been following along for months, with some saying they have more faith in the cookie poll results than the government.
"This cookie poll be more accurate than the 2020 election," one person wrote.Others mocked the anyone who seriously relies on the results.
"Ain't no way you guys trust one store's cookie poll more than our electoral college," another noted.A few other posts showed customers smiling - or taking a bite out of - their cookies.
Bakery owner Bill Hanisch said the cookie poll started in 1984. This year marks the eleventh cookie poll.
"We have been doing election cookie polls for Presidential Races as a fun way to promote the election process by buttercream cookies!! Thank You to everyone that has enjoyed the cookies and supported their candidate in a sweet way!!!" he wrote on Facebook.
In 2020 alone, the bakery reportedly sold roughly 18,000 election cookies.
The cookies are sold for $4.50 each.
