SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Daytime highs everywhere are trending five to 10 degrees below average for the weekend as low coastal clouds extend farther inland each evening.

The region is seeing more comfortable weather compared to this time last week as stronger onshore flow has taken hold of the weather pattern.

Saturday's afternoon temperatures will feature mid 70s at the coast, low 80s for inland valleys, upper-70s in the mountains and just shy of 100 degrees for the deserts.

At the end of the weekend into Monday, a strong low pressure system will swing through the state and cool things down even more for the beginning of next week.

Temperatures could be as much as 15 to 20 degrees below normal east of the beaches as the marine layer deepens Sunday night. Monday could also see a slight chance of light rain for beaches and valleys.

Stronger west winds are also expected for mountains and deserts late Sunday into Monday afternoon with gusts 30 to 40 miles per hour.
