Coronado wraps up play at 7-on-7 state tournament

Coronado wrapped up the 7-on-7 football state tournament with a 2-3 overall record.

The Mustangs opened Saturday with a 24-14 win over Kaufman in the first round of the consolation bracket. Friendswood ended Coronado's stay with a 19-12 result.

The Mustangs went 1-2 Friday, tying College Station and Richardson Berkner in the Pool O standings. Based on tiebreakers, College Station joined pool winner The Woodlands in the championship bracket. The Woodlands reached the quarterfinals, and College Station fell in the second round.

It was the third-consecutive year Coronado qualified for the state tournament.
