Cosplaying pooches, tossable brats contests delight at Kenosha lakeside Oktoberfest

The last day of Rustic Road's three-day Lakeside Oktoberfest at Kenosha's Celebration Place let the dogs out on Sunday decked in everything from baby shark and dragon ensembles to traditional lederhosen for a costume contest that delighted dozens of attendees young and old.

The audience selected first, second and third place costumed canine winners while their humans boasted bragging rights for the best dressed dogs and free beer at the festival. First place went to five-month old chocolate lab Nala in shark garb, while Amstaff Lab-Samoyed mix Zeus wearing drop-front flap lederhosen and Mugga, playing the "bad pet" in a vintage-style, black-and-white striped jail jumper took second and third place, respectively.

The costume contest was followed by a newly minted brat tossing competition that paired couples pitching the beer-boiled German delicacy loaded with sauerkraut and wrapped in buns from graduated distances. The winning pair in Rustic Road's first-ever sausage toss, deemed Queen and King Kraut", was the team of Marleigh Andrews and Manny Molina, both 31, of St. Louis.
