A £1 million improvement plan for Lutterworth has been announced by Harborough District Council. The funding earmarked in the plan will be used to resurface the market area, provide new benches, as well as trying to provide improved facilities for market traders. The design is still under consultation with key stakeholders, with the work expected to be completed by autumn 2025. The market area that is set for the funding injection - currently consists of 12 parking spaces - none of which will be reduced when the work is complete. Plans are also being drawn up to hold additional events and speciality markets once the work has been completed, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said. The funding for the plan - which will aim to "transform" the market area - will be provided through the district council, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership. A spokesperson for the council said "The project aims to ensure that there will be no reduction in the number of parking spaces in this area of town. However, the draft plan is still subject to necessary regulatory approvals." Lutterworth Town Council has been contacted for a comment on the plans.
