Council crime survey aims to tackle public concerns

A council is asking residents for their views on crime and community safety in the area.

Spelthorne Borough Council's survey is asking the public if they are concerned about crime in the area or if they have been a victim of crime or antisocial behaviour.

It also asks if there are places in the borough where people feel unsafe or if they are confident that crime is being tackled.

Susan Doran, chair of the council's community wellbeing and housing committee, said: "It is vital we have a good understanding of people's experiences of crime and antisocial behaviour and any particular problems they may have in their local area."

The survey is open until 18 October and the responses will be used alongside crime statistics to help the Spelthorne Community Safety Partnership set its priorities for 2025.

Residents can take part in the survey via the council's website or by asking for a printed copy.

Councillor Doran said: "This will help us to focus our resources on the things that matter most to the community."

The community safety partnership includes bodies such as Spelthorne Borough Council, Surrey Police and Surrey County Council.
