HOWLAND, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Craig M. Cope, 60 of Howland passed away on Thursday morning, November 14, 2024 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Craig was born on February 21, 1964 in Warren, a son of Kenneth P. and Doris (Cates) Cope.

He was a 1982 graduate of Howland High School , excelling as the point guard on the 1981 Steel Valley Championship Basketball team. Craig went on to graduate from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.

He had a successful career, employed for 30 years at Packard/Delphi/Aptiv.

Outside of work, Craig dedicated his life to his family and their passions. He supported his children by traveling across many states and countries to attend their events and missions. In his spare time, coaching was Craig's passion. Over the years, he not only coached his children, but many generations of young athletes in basketball and baseball. Most notably, he was one of the coaches for the 2006 Howland Little League State Championship team.

Most of all, he loved and cherished his family. Craig was proud of his children and grandgirls and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Craig will always be remembered by his wife of 37 years, Janis (Price) Cope of Howland; his mother, Doris (Cates) Cope of Howland; his children, Nathan Cope of Cleveland, Kristen Cope of Warren and Brendan (Carlisle) Cope of Warren; grandchildren, Blakely and Scarlett Cope; brother, Kevin (Kim) Cope of Michigan; sister, Sherry (Rick) Stillings of Columbus; sister-in-law, Julie (Rod) Fox; brother-in-law, Jeff Price; nephews, Mike and Sean (Lex) Cope, Caleb Martin and great-nephew Kellin Cope and many beloved friends.

Craig was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth P. Cope and his nephew, Dillon Cope.

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Craig on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE.

Additional calling hours will be on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at North Mar Church, 3855 E. Market Street, Warren, OH 44484. A funeral service will follow at the church at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will follow at Howland Township Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local youth athletic program in honor of Craig, who poured countless hours into coaching and teaching kids how to be part of a team.
