Crash With Semi Claims MN Man's Life, Severely Injures Woman
Windom, MN ( KROC-AM News )- One man was killed and a woman was severely hurt in a crash involving a semi in southwestern Minnesota .
An SUV and semi were involved in the deadly crash. The State Patrol responded to the fatality shortly after 6:30 Thursday evening.
The two vehicles collided at the intersection of Hwy. 60 and Cindy St. on the southern edge of Windom, which is about 30 miles northeast of Worthington.
Driver Killed, Passenger Fighting for Her Life Following SUV-Semi Crash in Windom, MN
The semi was in the westbound lane of Hwy. 60 and the SUV was traveling south on Cindy St. when the vehicles collided in the intersection along the four-lane highway, according to the state crash report .
His passenger, identified as 78-year-old Karen Jean Fredin of Windom, suffered life-threatening injuries. She was taken to a hospital in Sioux Falls for further care.
The truck driver, identified as 30-year-old Eric Alexander Murcia of Springfield, MN and his passenger, 27-year-old Baylee Machelle Barsalou of North Sioux City, SD, escaped the fatal crash without injuries.
Alcohol was not involved in the deadly crash and it's not known if Karen was buckled up at the time of the T-bone collision, the state crash report says.
