Credit card skimmer seized at Dollar General in Norwich

Sep. 30—NORWICH — Police are investigating the discovery of an electronic credit card skimming device at the Dollar General store at 313 W. Main Street.

Police in a press release said the store manager contacted them at approximately 3:45 p.m. Monday to say the device had been found.

The skimming technology, which criminals attach to card readers to steal data and create counterfeit credit cards, was seized as part of the investigation.

Police said the device was likely placed on the credit card swipe machine at some point within the past 24 hours. They asked anyone who used credit cards there to monitor their credit card statements and report suspicious activity.
