Crews battle early morning fire at Lititz apartment complex [update, video]

Two people were transported to the hospital following a early morning fire at the Newport Commons Apartments in Lititz.

Emergency crews were alerted to reports of smoke and flames seen from the roof of the complex at approximately 4:30 a.m.

Dozens of emergency crews responded to the scene where a section of the roof had collapsed.

Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries, according to dispatchers.

At 10 a.m., about 10 crews were still on scene at the complex, located on the 300 block of Creekside Lane.

The Red Cross has been called to assist victims of the fire and the State Police Fire Marshal is investigating what caused the fire, according to dispatchers.
