It's historic.

It's fun and every year it kicks off the fall season in Macomb County.

That is the Macomb County Historical Society's Crocker House Museum's Cemetery Walk from 12 to 4 p.m. Oct. 5 at Clinton Grove Cemetery.

This year's event will celebrate the firemen and families who were part of the historic Mount Clemens Fire Department, from 1883 through 1950.

"We decided to honor the heroic firefighters who battled the many fires during the Mount Clemens mineral bath era through the 1950s," Diane Dueweke said, in a news release.

At the heart of the production will be the stories of seven firemen as told by reenactors who will recount their lives and service with the fire departments.

Tickets are $18 for members of the Macomb County Historical Society and $20 for non-members.

Tour guides will lead groups through the cemetery along an established route to the resting place of each fireman. The guided tours will start every 20 minutes so guests can arrive at their convenience throughout the day.

The Cemetery Walk is a favorite among historians but a real treat for anyone looking for a unique family event. Reenactors, dressed in period clothing, representing a fireman or member of a firefighter's family will share their stories.

Also part of this annual fundraiser for the Crocker House will be displays and speakers presenting information about the history of the Mount Clemens fire departments and the Gamewell fire alarm system in Mount Clemens. Proceeds from the event help to support the museum's mission to provide educational programs that feature Mount Clemens and Macomb County history.

There will also be donuts and cider sponsored by Vick Funeral Home, raffle baskets and museum gift shop items including Three Wives Tea, created especially for the Crocker House Museum by Harney and Sons Tea Company.

"This year's cemetery walk promotes a cohesive story that is both entertaining and educational for all members of the family," said Dueweke.
