Cross Country grant helps Cornish charity projects

Grant funding from a train operator has helped fund "critical" projects, a charity has said.

Cornwall Community Foundation said it received £40,000 from Cross Country's Customer and Communities Improvement Fund for charity projects across the county.

The foundation, which provides support and investment to Cornish initiatives, said it would match the grant to take the total to £80,000.

Cross Country has now opened a new round of applications for grant funding.

The foundation said grant funding had been distributed to nine charities and groups in Cornwall - Blind At Sea, Nature Connects Community Interest Company (CIC), Whole Again Communities CIC, Cornwall One Parent Support Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Shallal Dance Theatre, Carefree Fostering Independence Cornwall, Cruse Bereavement Care, Get Together Cornwall CIC and MCH Wheal Prosper CIC.

Tamara Sherston-Baker, the foundation's development director, said: "It's been fantastic to work with Cross Country to help even more projects and initiatives with their critical community work across Cornwall."
