After raising the $3 million necessary to purchase a warehouse to expand its operations, CrossNet Ministries is now seeking additional funds from supporters to complete renovations to the space.

The campaign to raise $1.5 million to purchase a warehouse across from the current CrossNet Office and Food Pantry at 123 W. Franklin St., New Holland, began in March 2022. In January 2023, the organization was able to purchase the property debt free.

Clark Associates Charitable Foundation provided a matching grant of $1.5 million for the expansion and renovation of the building at the end of 2022. The match was offered if the organization raised the $1.5 million before the end of the year, which they did.

In January 2023 through March 2024, the TONO Group, Lancaster, has worked with the organization on design and architecture plans. The construction bid was awarded to Tono's Proto Construction Management and is expected to begin this month, with renovations completed in nine months.

An increase in construction costs upped the initial price tag to renovate from $1.5 million to between $3 million and $3.2 million.

Executive director Meredith Dahl said $2.2 million has now been raised and an additional $800,000 will be needed to complete it debt free.

The expansion and renovations will provide additional space for the office staff, food storage, donations, meeting with participants, youth center needs, and repurposing original office and food pantry for crisis housing and more programs.

"We are grateful to the community for coming together to make this project possible! It will be a safe place for resources, services, supports and relationships for the Elanco community for years to come," Dahl said.

CrossNet's mission is to offer help and hope in the name of Jesus Christ by empowering people in Eastern Lancaster County. Its goal is to collaborate to create a stronger, thriving community. Along with the youth center and food pantry, CrossNet offers mentors, tutoring, after-school programs for elementary school children, transportation ministry, housing programs, case management, a free summer lunch program, weekend meal solutions, opportunities to build life skills and money management workshops. Programs focus on building relationships and resources for sustainability.
