CT man charged with DUI after rear-ending motorist at 71 mph in South Windsor
A man faces DUI and other charges for allegedly going about twice the speed limit when he rear-ended a motorist in South Windsor in the spring, sending the other vehicle off the road.
Robert P. Sanchez, 28, of South Windsor was arrested Wednesday and charged with operating under the influence, reckless driving, operating without the minimum insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt, according to the South Windsor Police Department .
The charges stem from a crash reported in May in the area of Nevers Road and Riverside Drive, police said.
According to police, Sanchez was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and driving about 71 mph in a 35 mph zone when he struck the rear of another vehicle, sending the motorist off the road. Police said they also determined Sanchez did not have insurance and was not wearing a seatbelt.
Sanchez was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond following the arrest and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Nov. 25.
