Culvert replacement work to close section of Lake Ave. for six weeks
B.Martinez1 hr ago
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne City Utilities announced on Friday that a portion of Lake Avenue will be closed to traffic on Monday for culvert replacement work. The department says beginning on Monday, Nov. 11, Lake Avenue will be closed between Reed Road and Old Maysville Road so crews can replace the culvert and nearby road under Lake. The road will be closed for six weeks, through the end of the year, as part of the Pierson Drain Phase II stormwater improvement project . City Utilities says the road has been prone to flooding for many years, making the road impassable at times following heavy rain. Officials say the new culvert will expand its capacity, allowing water to go through the Pierson Drain to the river. A posted detour asks drivers to take Reed Road, East State Boulevard, and Maplecrest Road during the closure. You can view a map below.
