D202 school board race nothing like D65
John Martin is about to get something he tried for in 2023, but didn't win.
A seat on a school board.
Martin ran unsuccessfully for the board at Evanston/Skokie District 65 in the last election.
Now, he has filed for the board in District 202 (Evanston Township High School).
And with four people running for four seats on April 1, this time he can look forward to a win.
Three incumbents are running as well ... Pat Savage-Williams, Mirah Anti, and Patricia Maunsell.
But the fourth incumbent whose seat is up, Gretchen Livingston, was not on the list of candidates who turned in papers with the Cook County Clerk's Office by the time filing ended at 5 pm on Monday.
Livingston is the longest tenured board member. She was first elected in 2009.
Evanston Now has reached out to Livingston for comment, but we have not heard back.
Unlike District 202, with its four candidates for four positions, District 65 (the elementary and middle school feeder system for 202/ETHS) has 17 candidates, all itching for the chance to deal with 65's troubling finances.
The four D65 incumbents whose terms are up, Joey Hailpern, Biz Lindsay-Ryan, Soo La Kim, and Donna Wang Su, are not running again.
