PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A Portland man is still recovering nearly three weeks after he was shot while he was on his way home to have dinner with his family.

Just after midnight on Sept. 7, Michael was riding his motorcycle near Southeast 111th Avenue and Stark Street when gunfire broke out.

"It was almost animated, you know. I couldn't really see nothing, it's like firecrackers," Michael said. "Everything goes black for a second, my right arm collapses, I end up going down - not knowing really what's going on yet. I'm trying to crawl back to some sort sort of shelter."

Michael was shot four times. One in the neck, one in the buttocks through his thigh, one in the knee, and one grazed his right foot.

"One and half [bullets] are still in me, that they had to leave for safety reasons," said Michael.

By the time officers were able to arrive, police say the suspect had fled the area.

"Nightmare, an absolute nightmare," Michael said. "I don't know who or why – it's just crazy, crazy. The best-case scenario is wrong place, wrong time."

The father of two spent six days in the hospital, and the time away from home has taken a toll on his family.

"I have my partner here with me, which she's a rockstar. She's been my rockstar since I got out, but it definitely takes a team," said Michael.

Michael is now in physical therapy, where he hopes to make a full recovery.

"I'm sure with time - time will heal all," said Michael.

Portland police said a nearby apartment window was also hit by gunfire.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact them immediately.
