Dale County OKs two local amendments
OZARK-Two local amendments on the election ballot were approved by Dale County voters Tuesday.
Local Amendment 1 proposed an "amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 2022, to authorize a person to be elected or appointed as judge of probate of the county who is not over the age of 75 at the time of qualifying for election or appointment." The amendment passed with 12,403 in favor and 3,821 against.
Local Amendment 2 asked voters in the county to decide where a municipality may designate municipal streets or public roads for use by golf carts. The amendment passed with 9,636 in favor and 5,887 against.

In the United States Presidential race, Dale County cast 14,473 votes for Donald Trump and 4,478 votes for Kamala D. Harris.
Dale County is also among the South Alabama counties that had a court-mandated redrawing of district lines which moved Dale County from District 2 into District 1. Republican Barry Moore was elected to that U.S. Representative seat with 14,543 votes to Democrat Tom Holmes' 4,378 votes.
Voter turnout was 51.75 percent of the 37,101 registered voters in Dale County at 19 voting places, including the absentee ballot box.
There were no contested races in Dale County. Running unopposed for Dale County Commissioner District 2 is Republican Incumbent Donald O. Grantham. Running unopposed for Dale County Commission District 4 is Republican Incumbent Frankie Wilson. Running unopposed in Tuesday's election was incumbent Steve McKinnon.
Running unopposed for 33rd Judicial Circuit Judge was incumbent Bill Filmore. Unopposed for Dale County Circuit Clerk was incumbent Delores Woodham and unopposed for Dale County Probate Judge was incumbent Sharon Ard Michalic.
Running unopposed for Dale County Board of Education Superintendent is Republican Incumbent Ben Baker. Running unopposed for Dale County Board of Education District 1 is Republican Incumbent Jerald Cook. Running unopposed for Dale County Board of Education District 4 is Republican Incumbent Phillip Parker.
