Dan Barton: Cambridge forward out for up to 10 weeks with knee injury

Cambridge United forward Dan Barton is likely to miss the next couple of months after damaging knee ligaments.

The 19-year-old had to come off during the U's 2-0 defeat by Lincoln in League One on Saturday and a scan has revealed he has suffered a medial ligament injury.

The club say Barton is set to miss "eight to 10 weeks" with the issue.

The teenager is in his debut season with the U's and has made 10 appearances, scoring his first senior goal in the 3-3 draw at Bromley in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy in early September.

Cambridge boss Garry Monk told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that Barton's injury was "a bit more serious than we would have hoped".
