Sports Dan Campbell Admits Unexpected Blunder After Jared Goff's Perfect Performance in Lions' Win Over Seahawks

The Detroit Lions (3-1) handed the Seattle Seahawks (3-1) their first loss of the season in the final game of Week 4 on Monday Night Football with a decisive 42-29 victory. Detroit never trailed in the game, thanks to an unrelenting offense that always had an answer whenever Seattle tried to close the gap. The closest the Seahawks came was within seven points in the third quarter.

After the break, the Lions and Seahawks traded touchdowns on the first five drives of the second half. However, Detroit refused to let up, led by a historic performance from their quarterback, Jared Goff.

Goff made history on Monday night, completing a perfect 18-for-18 passing attempts, the most without an incompletion in a single game in NFL history, according to ESPN's Field Yates . The Lions' signal-caller threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns, and he even caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Amon-Ra St. Brown in the third quarter, extending the lead to 28-14.

With that kind of performance, one would expect Goff to receive accolades, including the game ball typically handed out by head coaches after a victory. However, Lions' head coach Dan Campbell had other plans.

In his postgame press conference, Campbell admitted to reporters that he accidentally gave the game ball to someone else.

"Well, I just gave the game ball to somebody else-so I feel awful right now," Campbell said with a laugh, drawing laughter from the reporters. "I knew he played a heck of a game. I did not realize he was perfect. I did not know he was literally 18-for-18. But I knew he played really well; you could feel it."

Campbell later revealed that he gave the game ball to Jameson Williams and Kerby Joseph. Williams recorded two receptions for 80 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown catch from Goff that extended the Lions' lead to 15 points. Meanwhile, Joseph sealed the game by intercepting Seattle's Geno Smith in the end zone.
