Dangerous Southern California pursuit ends in wild crash into home

A high-speed pursuit through West L.A. ended with a violent crash into a home Saturday night.

Preliminary information indicates that CHP officers initiated a pursuit on the northbound span of the 405 Freeway near the Sepulveda Boulevard exit around 9:45 p.m. after the driver of the vehicle, a burgundy SUV, failed to yield.

The driver then exited the freeway before turning around and going south on the 405, eventually exiting at Culver Boulevard in Culver City.

Shortly after exiting the freeway, the SUV crashed into a guardrail and into a home.

It is believed that the four people who were inside the car when the crash occurred needed to be extricated by first responders.

No serious injuries were reported. It is unknown if anyone was inside the home at the time.

One passenger spoke to news stringer service OnSceneTV moments after the collision and said he "thought he was going to die."

"It was like 'boom, boom, boom,' and after the first hit, I was f—ked up...I got blood on my hands still," the man said.

Video shows the driver of the vehicle being detained by the police; the three passengers were released.

No word on why police began pursuing the vehicle was disclosed.
