Timpte, a David City-based manufacturer that has operations in Lincoln, was named Nebraska Manufacturer of the Year on Tuesday by the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The company, which makes trailers for dry bulk commodities such as grain and fertilizer, has a Lincoln-based subsidiary called Thunderstone Manufacturing that makes trailer tarps and related components.

Thunderstone is in the process of building a new manufacturing plant at the Lincoln Airport's industrial park. The new $30 million-plus facility is expected to more than double the company's Lincoln workforce.

The Nebraska Chamber made the announcement during its Manufacturing Summit in La Vista.

It also announced during the summit the winner of this year's Coolest Thing Made in Nebraska contest.
