David Robert Tedesco

David Robert Tedesco passed away in Walnut Creek on October 29, 2024, with his wife and two of his nieces by his side. David is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith Luciano Tedesco, his sister Rosemary Tedesco Klem, brother-in-law John Klem, sister-in-law Dorothy Straka Luciano and he was a loving uncle to all his 15 nieces and nephews. Dave was born on June 25, 1942, in Detroit, Michigan, to Italian Immigrants David and Helen Frezza Tedesco. He was the last of three children born into a strong Catholic, Italian family. At the age of 4 years, he moved with his family to Calif. This journey along Route 66 made an impression on David and he was a lifelong, avid fan of road trips across the beautiful USA.

Good fortune brought his family to beautiful Burbank, CA, a land of sunshine and orange trees. David was soon beginning his education at Archdiocese of Los Angeles Elementary School. He attended Bellarmine-Jefferson High School in Burbank, and graduated class of 1959. He attended the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and graduated in the Spring of 1961. David completed a Mid Career Executive Program at the University of Virginia and later decided to work for his Masters Degree in Public Administration. David's first job was at the Burbank Public Library. This instilled in him a love of books and reading that enriched his life throughout the years. David made many friends throughout his life. His quick sense of humor took people by surprise. At one point he owned a sail boat with a buddy from high school, but it was a short-lived experiment when they had to be rescued by the Coast Guard. David served in the U.S. Army Reserves and, after finishing his basic training, he began his regular monthly training trips. He would say, "I am a trained Army cook." When asked if he helped with the cooking at home, he would say "Well, all my recipes are for 100 men." After college, he worked for the Federal government as a Bank Examiner. While on a tour of duty in Washington, D. C., he met his future wife Judith Luciano who was working at the home office for that government agency. Over the years David and Judy enjoyed traveling and meeting people all over the world. Dave and Judy felt the call to become active in their church community and spent a lot of their time volunteering. Dave was a man with many fine talents and gifts to share; he was a gentleman, kind and compassionate. He was a founding member of The Knights of Columbus in the council that was formed at his local St. Perpetua Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Perpetua Catholic Church, 3454 Hamlin Road, Lafayette, on November 20 at 11:30 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:45 a.m. in the foyer between the church and the hall. Everyone is welcome.
