Temperatures dip cooler today with partial sunshine, before warming a touch tomorrow with mostly sunny skies. Gradual warming continues through midweek, especially by Thursday when highs should return to the 60s. Dry weather is set to stick around with no real threat for rain until at least Friday. This isn’t good news for our drought , but could help with any early-sunset blues.

Today (Sunday): After a chilly start in the 30s to near 40, we can expect partly sunny skies and afternoon highs ranging from the upper 40s in our northern suburbs, to the low to mid-50s near and south of the District. A cool breeze blows from the northeast around 5-10 mph. Confidence: High

Tonight: A mostly clear and chilly night ahead with partly cloudy skies. Overnight lows range from the upper 20s in some of our north and west suburbs, to the the low to mid-30s closer to and inside the Beltway. Confidence: High

Tomorrow (Monday): High pressure remains overhead, providing plenty of sunshine. High temperatures trend a few degrees warmer, into the mid- to upper 50s, which is right around average for this time of year. Confidence: Medium-High

Tomorrow night: Mostly clear skies continue and overnight lows are slightly higher than the previous few nights, in the upper 30s to near 40. Confidence: Medium-High

A look ahead

This dry weather pattern holds Tuesday through Thursday with no real sign of rain chances. Some sun and clouds all three days with Tuesday and Wednesday highs in the upper 50s to near 60, and Thursday highs warming into the 60s. Tuesday and Wednesday night lows settle in the mid-30s to low 40s. Confidence: Medium
