De’Aaron Fox’s historic performances lead to another honor and Kings franchise record

De'Aaron Fox's record-setting performances were enough to get national recognition.

The NBA on Monday named Fox the Western Conference Player of the Week, two days after he set a Sacramento Kings franchise record with 109 points over two nights against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday and the Utah Jazz on Saturday.

Fox became just the third player in NBA history to score at least 109 points over two days joining Kobe Bryant (2007) and Wilt Chamberlain, who did it 15 times.

Fox during four games last week averaged 40.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.3 assists and two steals, aided heavily by his 60- and 49-point performances against Minnesota and Utah. He shot 57.4% from the field, 57.1% from 3-point range and 81% from the free-throw line.

"Just being able to get downhill and touch the paint has worked wonders," Fox said after Saturday's double-digit, second-half comeback. "And whenever you're able to get one, to the rim; two, get to the free throw line; and, three, you're able to still create for your teammates. So (I'm) just trying to have a point of emphasis on that."

It's the sixth time Fox has earned conference player of the week honors, surpassing DeMarcus Cousins for the most times in franchise history with five. Fox led the league in total points (162), points per game, made field goals (58), free throws (34) and clutch points (21).

Fox, who turns 27 next month, is one of four players averaging 28.0 points, five rebounds and five assists while shooting at least 50% from the floor with a true shooting percentage of 60.0% or higher.

The Kings (8-6) hosted the Atlanta Hawks on Monday and won't play again until traveling to Los Angeles to play the Clippers on Friday.
