Logansport's Debra Miller was recently presented with the Indiana Retired Teachers Association Clock Award for her outstanding service logging the most volunteer hours in Cass County for 2023.

Cass County Area Retired Teachers Association president Barrie McClain presented Miller with the award at a recent meeting.

Miller volunteers at Trinity Episcopal in Logansport at the food pantry, and she is on call for emergency needs, including clothing needs when they arise. She is also the chairperson for the church's annual school supply giveaway, held prior to the beginning of the school year, where she has been responsible for overseeing the purchasing and organizing of supplies for distribution.

Miller is also on the planning committee for the church's diocese summer camp and helps plan and organize activities. She cooks meals for people, and also provides transportation to doctor's appointments. Miller always makes herself available to listen when people need a listening ear, according to a press release from CCARTA.

Jill Sharp from Logansport Savings Bank was the guest speaker at the meeting. She explained the risks when it comes to scams and fraud. She spoke about many types of financial scams, gave tips on how to protect yourself, and resources to report scams.
