Decision 2024: US Senate candidate Dan Osborn makes Omaha ‘debate tour’ stop

C.Kim34 min ago
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Dan Osborn is saving a seat for opponent Senator Deb Fischer.

"I'll leave this one for her in case she shows up," Osborn said.

He knows Fischer isn't coming. She has declined to debate Osborn, even once.

"Debating in politics is as old as apple pie and baseball. The people deserve to know where we stand on the issues."

Osborn feels like the voters are the ones losing out.

"People are getting a raw deal by not having the two of us together talking issues."

When the Navy vet turned in enough signatures to get on the ballot a month ago, Senator Fischer challenged his Independent party affiliation.

Osborn spoke on the idea of border security.

"Without a border we don't have a country. We need to secure our border. Fischer voted down two border bills. I'd like to know why."

Osborn said a debate could provide clarity to both of their positions.

Six years ago, Fischer and Democratic opponent Jane Raybould faced off at the Nebraska State Fair.

Pete Ricketts and Preston Love Jr. for the other senate seat are not debating either.
