Deer hunting opening day forecast

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - In about 12 hours from now, hunters will be climbing into their trucks and stands waiting patiently for the sun to breach the eastern horizon which will usher in the first day of the November 2023 firearm deer hunting season here in Nebraska. There is much anticipation and preparation that goes into a hunting trip. Especially knowing what weather you will be encountering. So here is your opening day forecast for a few of the areas around the state.

Our first stop takes us to the Burwell area where the sunrise will occur at 7:21 a.m. with partly cloudy skies and a temperature around 30 degrees. It will feel much colder thanks to south southeast winds between 6 and 11 mph. After a cold start to the day, temperatures will climb to around 60 degrees in the afternoon before the sun sets at 5:20 p.m. Heading further north and west brings us to the Valentine area. Here the sun will rise at 7:29 a.m. with mostly cloudy skies in the morning and a very chilly temperature around 25 degrees. The winds will be generally light between 3 and 8 mph. Much warmer in the afternoon as highs will be in the mid-upper 50s ahead of a sunset at 5:23 pm. Maybe your hunting grounds are located way out west near Chadron. Here you can expect a sunrise at 6:39 a.m. local time. It will be partly cloudy with early morning temperatures in the mid 20s and afternoon highs in the mid 50s with a sunset at 4:33 p.m.

We’re not done yet as we head to the southwest part of the state into McCook. where the sun will rise at 7:23 a.m. with mostly clear skies and a temperature around 30 degrees. It will feel chillier with south southwest winds between 7 and 12 mph. After a cold start to the day, temperatures will climb into the low 60s in the afternoon before the sun sets at 5:29 p.m. Heading all the way east, brings us to the Auburn area. Here the sun will rise at 7:05 a.m. with mostly cloudy skies in the morning and a cold temperature around 35 degrees. the winds will be quite feisty between 10 and 15 mph. much warmer in the afternoon as highs will be in the mid 50s ahead of a sunset at 5:10 pm. maybe your hunting grounds are located north of Omaha in Tekamah. Here you can expect a sunrise at 7:09 a.m. with partly cloudy skies and early morning temperatures in the mid 30s. The afternoon will boast highs in the upper 50s with a sunset at 5:08 pm.
