Deion Sanders sends clear message to own son Shilo after Colorado Buffaloes star admits 'I played horrible'

COLORADO star Shilo Sanders has vowed to come back stronger after stinging criticism from dad Deion.

The NFL Hall of Famer was unimpressed with Shilo's performance during the Buffaloes 31-28 loss to Kansas State.

Shilo appeared in his first game back after surgery on an injured forearm last month.

The free safety made ten tackles in the loss, but missed a host more as Wildcats tailback DJ Giddens racked up almost 200 rushing yards.

Following the game, coach Sanders labeled his son's performance as "horrible" and claimed he looked "rusty."

And the 24-year-old NFL hopeful admitted it had been the "worst game of his life."

"I know I played horrible," Shilo said.

Despite the stinging rebuke from Coach Prime , Shilo claims to have taken the criticism on the chin.

"I know I'm good at football," he continued.

"I know I've been doing this for a long time. I know how to tackle.

"I've made a lot of tackles in my career. One game, I'm not going to let everybody say, 'Oh, you're trash. You can't do this. You can't do that.'

"You can't tell me what I can't do if I've done it already, and you probably haven't done it.

"I've done it. I know what I'm capable of."

Shilo missed three games through September and October due to his forearm injury.

During that span, the Buffaloes reeled off three wins to propel them to 4-2 on the season.

"You work to get back, then you get back, and you have the worst game of your life, man, it's really disappointing for me," Shilo admitted.

"I've been seeing everybody turn on me and stuff like that.

"But I'm not worried about none of that, because as soon as you do good, they're going to be right back on your side."

Former NFL and MLB star Sanders took charge of the Buffaloes in December 2022.

His younger son Shedeur is also the quarterback in Boulder.

Last season, the Buffaloes began the campaign well before dropping away and suffering six-straight losses.

"We've got to keep going with it. We can't just quit now," Shilo added.

The Buffaloes are back in action this Saturday against the Arizona Wildcats (3-3).
