GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Big Idea Grand Island sent one contestant home $10,000 richer Monday night. Ten finalists competed in the competition hosted by Central Community College's Entrepreneurship Center but Melissa Zurcher, owner of Deliboards GI, took home the first place prize. The contest is based on the television show "Shark Tank" where each entrepreneur had just two minutes to make their business pitch to a panel of judges and a live audience. After their pitch, they were asked questions from the judges and audience before voting began. Zurcher was announced as the winner and she said she never expected it. "I'm speechless," said Zurcher. "I feel so excited, I can't believe it yet and I feel really really blessed with this opportunity. Even in my craziest of dreams, I couldn't have dreamed this. So now I'm here and I'm just really really happy today." Deliboards GI is a grab-and-go style deli and charcuterie board restaurant, and Zurcher said winning Big Idea has boosted her confidence. "Just really really thankful for all the people who voted for me tonight and for those who believe in me," said Zurcher. "Sometimes it's really hard being an entrepreneur, believing in you, and now I'm just more secure of me and I want to express how blessed I feel and thankful for all the people who came tonight."
