Today in PA podcast from PennLive mentioned that Philadelphia will be getting more red-light cameras, more speed cameras, and the new SEPTA parking cameras( which were not authorized by a state assembly bill.) Does it ever end? Never a mention of best-practice engineering and enforcement being used first, just go right to cameras. This is designed to raise revenue, get people to stop driving, and make life miserable if you choose to drive. Demonizing cars is unproductive, as there needs to be a serious discussion about all modes of transportation. There also needs to be a discussion about getting people who use mass transit, bicycles, and walk to start kicking in more money to use the roads and sidewalks. If you lack a car, you can kick in quite a bit of money to pay for transportation, like higher fares.
