Denver weather: Snow expected on Thanksgiving through the weekend

Winter isn’t wasting any time making an entrance to Dever after Thanksgiving festivities.

A snowstorm and a major cooldown is expected to start Thursday night and continue through Saturday, with temperatures in the teens and travel impacts during the busy holiday weekend, forecasters at the National Weather Service in Boulder said.

Denver is in for a nice couple of days before Thanksgiving; high temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday are 54 and 67 degrees, respectively, about 15 degrees warmer on Wednesday than the typical temperature this time of year.

Thursday will begin the cooldown with a 20-degree drop to a high of 47 degrees, but the day will be mostly dry and cloudy.

Thursday night is when the real action is expected to start.

There is about an 80% chance of the snow starting then and continuing through Friday.

Temperatures will see another 20-degree drop Friday, as well, to highs of 26 degrees both Friday and Saturday. The low Friday night is 14 degrees.

Forecasters said snowfall total predictions, favored locations for the highest accumulations and specific storm timing will become more clear over the next couple days as the weekend approaches.
