Deputies: Mother arrested in death of 2-year-old

STURGIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say a mother has been arrested in connection to the death of her 2-year-old child near Sturgis.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Office said shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, deputies were called for a report of an unresponsive 2-year-old inside a home at the Memory Lane Trailer Park on US-12 near the intersection of Balk Road in Sturgis Township.
The child was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff's office. It's unknown what led to the child's death.
The mother was arrested and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail for involuntary manslaughter. Her name was not released.
