Sports Deshaun Watson Facing Backlash After Starting Scuffle in Browns-Commanders

The Cleveland Browns traveled to Washington on Sunday, hoping to earn their second win of the season against the 3-1 Commanders and their surprisingly potent offense with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels at the helm.

Led by quarterback Deshaun Watson, the Browns have gotten off to a slow start this season. Sitting at 1-3, their only victory came against the still-winless Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.

The Cleveland offense has been a major factor in the poor start, having yet to top 20 points in a game this season, in large part due to Watson's poor play at quarterback.

The Browns have come under heavy scrutiny from fans for their decision to sign Watson to a historic fully-guaranteed $230 million contract after his very public legal troubles related to sexual misconduct that date back to 2021 .

On Sunday, Watson once again came under fire from fans after starting a scuffle on the sideline after taking a minor hit from Commanders rookie Mike Sainristil.

"I love watching the collapse of Deshaun Watson's career," one fan said .

Another added , "I love the fact that Deshaun Watson is being embarrassed on a weekly basis."

One fan simply stated "Overrated QB."

The overall sentiment from fans regarding the quarterback's performance has been negative, and isn't getting much better.

"He is horrible. That might go down as one of the worst contracts of all time," a fan remarks . "When do they put Winston in? They might actually win if they did, but they won't because of what they owe Watson."

Browns fans have made their feelings clear on their quarterback and the albatross contract he comes with. There might not be light at the end of the tunnel until after the 2026 season, when Watson's contract ends.
