SAN ANTONIO - Police are continuing to investigate an incident that occurred Thursday afternoon at an apartment complex on the city's west side.

Officers were dispatched to the complex at approximately 1:00 p.m. following a report of a family disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who said that her two young children, a two-year-old and eight-month-old, were still inside the apartment with her boyfriend.

A records check revealed that the boyfriend, Faustino Diaz, was wanted on a felony warrant for sexual assault of a child, as well as four misdemeanor warrants.

Based on the totality of the circumstances, officers believed that the children might be in danger. They contacted their supervisors, who then requested SWAT assistance.

SWAT officers surrounded the apartment complex and eventually made entry into the apartment. They were able to extract the children, who were treated for minor injuries by EMS.

However, Diaz had fled the apartment sometime between the time the woman left the apartment and SWAT made entry.

Police are currently searching for Diaz and are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact them immediately at 210-207-7273.
