Entertainment & Living Did Angelina Jolie Get Plastic Surgery? What She's Said and How She's Transformed Over the Years

Angelina Jolie has sparked plastic surgery speculation over the years with her unique beauty. While the actress has never admitted to undergoing plastic surgery for cosmetic purposes, some fans have wondered whether she has had work done.

Angelina Jolie's Plastic Surgery Quotes

Despite the speculation, the Los Angeles native once said that she has never had plastic surgery. "I haven't had anything done and I don't think I will... I don't plan to do it myself," she said in a Daily Mail, adding, "But if it makes somebody happy then that's up to them. I'm not in somebody else's skin to know what makes them feel better about themselves. But I don't plan to do it myself."

While she respects all takes on plastic surgery, Angelina is also accepting when it comes to the process of aging. She has opened up about how her mother's death from breast cancer at the age of 56 in 2007 has helped her reframe how she views getting older.

"I do like being older. I feel much more comfortable in my forties than I did when I was younger," she told British Vogue in 2021. "Maybe because ... I don't know ... maybe because my mom didn't live very long, so there's something about age that feels like a victory instead of a sadness for me."

The Hollywood icon noted that she is excited about the next decade of her life, further demonstrating her embrace of aging.

"I'm looking forward to my 50s - I feel that I'm gonna hit my stride," she added.

Angelina Jolie Had 'Work Done' Ahead of 'Maria' Publicity Tour

The Oscar winning actress made a return to Hollywood with a big splash in the 2024 film Maria, where she plays opera legend Maria Callas. In the lead-up to the movie's November 27, 2024, theatrical release, Angelina made numerous appearances at film festivals and other events where fans noticed a slight change in her appearance.

"She's such a beauty and looks great at 49 for the most part. But clearly she's had a ton of new work done in time for all the publicity for Maria," an insider told Life & Style exclusively.

The source noted that "stress over her court battle [with Brad Pitt] was taking a toll" on the Wanted star earlier in the year. "It's true, she was looking quite frail and gaunt a few months ago with circles under her eyes," the insider added. "So, she had a tune up – and not just lip injections, but likely Botox and other fillers. But this renovation is getting mixed reviews and causing double takes of the worst kind."

"The hope is that Angelina doesn't succumb to the temptation of going overboard like so many of her Hollywood peers," the insider concluded.

Angelina Jolie Underwent a Double Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction

The Eternals star underwent what's known as a prophylactic double mastectomy in 2013 after discovering she carried the BRCA1 gene, which significantly increases the odds of developing breast or ovarian cancer.

Angelina had her breasts removed and reconstructed as a precaution, despite not having cancer.

"My doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer," she shared in an op-ed published in The New York Times . "The decision to have a mastectomy was not easy. But it is one I am very happy that I made. I can tell my children that they don't need to fear they will lose me to breast cancer."

Angie went on to describe her breast reconstruction process. "My own process began with a procedure known as a 'nipple delay,' which rules out disease in the breast ducts behind the nipple and draws extra blood flow to the area."

Two weeks later her breast tissue was removed in a major surgery. Nine weeks after that, Angelina had a third surgery to reconstruct her breasts and have implants put in.

"I do not feel any less of a woman," Angie wrote. "I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity.
