The Lincoln North Star boys had the best day out of the Class A city teams, winning the A-2 district meet at Pioneers Park on Thursday with 27 team points to secure a spot as a team at the state meet next week in Kearney.

The Gators swept the top three spots in the race with Josiah Bitker, Easton Zastrow and J'Shawn Afuh.

Lincoln Southwest was runner-up and led by Connor Boyle in sixth.

The top three teams and top 15 individuals qualify for state in all four classes.

A-4 boys at Pioneers Park: Lincoln East won the district championship by a 54-67 margin over runner-up Creighton Prep. The Spartans were led by Ben Schlegelmilch and Caleb Ruch in second and third, respectively.

B-3 boys at Overton: Lincoln Pius X was the district champion with an impressive team score of 15 with a 1-2-5-7 finish. The Thunderbolts' Joseph Majerus was the champion in 16:02, less than 1 second ahead of teammate David Krier.

The Norris boys took third and qualified for state.

A-2 girls at Pioneers Park: Lincoln Southwest put all five of its runners for the team score in the top 10 to win the district championship. That included individual champion Meredith Marsh and Silvy Munn in fourth.

A-4 girls at Pioneers Park: Lincoln East probably won't extend its streak of six straight state championships this year, but the Spartans did earn its spot back at state with a third-place district finish, led by Ella Herzberg in sixth place.

North Star senior Hope Riedel finished fourth.

B-3 girls at Overton: Norris was pretty close to a perfect team score of 10 with its 1-2-4-6 finish for 13 team points and the district championship. Lincoln Pius X was runner-up, led by Malia Woosley in fifth.
