ESCANABA, Mich. (WLUC) - On Sunday, DNR outdoor educators hosted an Autumn Celebration.

The fall event was held in Escanaba's DNR Pocket Park.

There was a fur and bone table to teach kids about animals in the area. It also shows kids what the animals actually look like, such as feeling fox fur or touching a skull.

DNR Outdoor Educator Isaiah Olson says Sunday was the first full day of fall.

"We want to celebrate the leaves changing color," Olson said. "We want to really talk about the cool stuff we got here not only in our park but throughout the state. So, really highlighting the cool critters and some of the birds that are coming and going."

The event also provided bird boxes to paint and take home. The educators will stain the finished wood after painting.

Olson hopes to make this celebration an annual event.
